Hello again! Self-hosting rocks!

Self-hosting has taken over my life with the help of NixOS and Tailscale, but I do think that I have several problems inherent with them, because for one thing, NixOS sometimes has problems here and there with Plasma, my favorite desktop environment, and when it does, I just switch back to GNOME.

GNOME isn't really that bad, but I dislike how it's hard to keep track of what applications are open. I understand that it's a design choice, but it's not one I'm particularly fond of.

I like Cinnamon(Which is more like Windows 7), Budgie(More like Windows 8.1 or 7 again) or Pantheon(Which is more like Mac OSX). Believe me when I say that I have tried almost every desktop and window manager at one point. COSMIC looks pretty cool and it has been working nowadays, but it's still in the early stages for me.

As far as just plain tiling or dynamic window managers, all I really cared for was cwm(Calm window manager) or awesomewm, but even then, I really like using the mouse sometimes, mostly for copying and pasting.

Now as far as Tailscale goes, I think that the managed version is fine, but I've also tried the self-hosted one called Headscale, and also Nebula. I think Headscale is the fastest self-hosted one to get going, but Nebula can also be fast(At least for Linux PCs, everything else is a drag).

I also recently tried NetBird, which has both a managed one and self-hosted one. I think for now I will settle on using Headscale and rope everyone I can into joining my tailnet! Then, once I figure out the best way to host Netbird, we'll move to that, because I think that Netbird is more conductive to my values in that the entirety of it is open-source and you don't have to use an identity provider like Gmail, Apple etc.

That's all for this moment, seeya!
